duh!Īnd, how in the world it works in mac OSX when a mac does NOT have blu-ray disk drive and OSX does NOT support blu-ray either? i don't have a mac, otherwise, i could have tested have VLC 2.0.1 portable and it gave me the following error when i opened my original "despicable me" blu-ray disk in win7pro64: This player does NOT play my original "despicable me" blu-ray disk in win7pro64, however, with untouched BD ISO, it works fine. While I'm disappointed that there are problems with the Blu-ray playback, I may keep it for it's other uses. I does seem to play DVDs without an issue, haven't tried other media types yet since my main interest in this was the Blu-ray playback support. However the CPU activity shows no subsequent increase in activity and raising the priority doesn't have an impact. I did notice that there is very high network activity while playing a Blu-ray (using Win7 Resource Manager) and at the point when it starts to stutter the network activity raises approx 10% over it's previous average. And Avatar isn't the only Blu-ray that there are problems with.Īfter trying various things like rebooting, raising the priority of both the player and it's behind the scenes support software (Raytooth.exe), etc, the stuttering never went away.

This stuttering happens 100% of the time in this part of the movie, and is just one of many parts of the movie that stutters.
Player seemed to work OK except for some stuttering.įor example, I played Avatar (was the closest Blu-ray at hand) and the part where he first links to the avatar body, and he's outside running, stutters like mad and the stuttering doesn't clear up till after he meets up with the Avatar project head. The 'Help' file from the menu or from 'F1' for 'Help' does not produce anything- no help file or url opens. the website claims: 'It can support any format of movie, video, audio, music and photo.' I think that is VERY MISLEADING to a potential buyer of this software, and at that price? This borders on a SCAM in my view because it is luring purchasers by leading them to think that this player is versatile and good for numerous other formats when it is NOT. I don't what the developers were thinking by even including these other formats in the player because they are quite useless without any settings available. This Blu-ray Player does play other formats just fine BUT WITH NO SETTINGS available to you, so if your video file is too dark for example you can't adjust it in any way - no way to adjust for variations in color, brightness, etc. The audio settings are also 'advanced' if you chose the advanced settings view.

VLC player on the other hand is the most professional and advanced free video player available, with a huge array of advanced user settings when needed- you can even sync audio and video when those are out of sync. You cannot adjust video brightness, contrast, hue, gamma, nor anything else related to video except for screen size, aspect ratio, deinterlace and track.įor Audio, you only have Track, Audio Channel and Device, no other settings, no equalizer. This may work fine for Blu-Ray, I couldn't test that, but for any other video or audio format this is virtually useless compared to VLC or other players because there are NO VIDEO OR AUDIO SETTINGS in this Blu-ray player.
